What is Shroof?
Shroof. A drink created in the mountains by Zeus himself to inspire the population to enjoy more mushrooms, and less of the downsides of coffee.
Just kidding about the Zeus part. But Shroof was created while on a trip in the mountains, to inspire more people to enjoy the benefits of mushrooms, adaptogens, and superfoods. Shroof is jam-packed with 10 organic superfood ingredients. Shroof was designed to provide all-day energy, uplift your spirits, and kick the downsides of coffee to the curb. Every ingredient we use is specifically designed to provide a benefit for your body.
The backstory of Shroof
Shroof as mentioned was created in the woods while on a hiking trip. What started out as a love-hate relationship with coffee, Shroof founder, Joe, knew he wanted to create a product that was both better tasting and more beneficial than coffee. Tough to do. But not impossible. The biggest driver as to why Shroof was created, is because of a congenital heart condition. Joe was born with a congenital heart defect, and coffee was a bad habit, for obvious reasons. While working in sales at various software startups, coffee was an integral part of his life. So Shroof was created out of necessity.
After many months and iterations in his kitchen, Shroof was created with love and organic ingredients. What started as a project for himself, quickly became a business as the feedback from friends rolled in, asking “Can I get a bag of Shroof?”. He knew he was onto something when the feedback was consistently positive. Happy with the recipe and partners, he decided to take Shroof to market. Since doing so, the feedback has been incredible and the Shroof family (Shroofers) has continually grown. More and more people are joining the Shroof Life on a daily basis, and we’re thrilled to have them Shroofing with us.
What’s in Shroof?
Every serving of Shroof has 10 organic ingredients. Each ingredient we use has it’s own special benefit for the body (they also taste delicious). Let’s walk through the ingredients and their benefits.
Organic Cacao
Cacao has a wonderful chocolatey taste and is packed with flavonoids. Cacao powder has been shown to help with improved heart function and blood pressure, as well as blood flow to the brain and heart.
Chicory Root
Chicory root is like a superfood for your gut health. Unlike coffee that’ll cause morning stomach aches, chicory root will actually help with your stomach. It’s also been known to help with a rapid heartbeat.
Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane has really come into the spotlight as of late. And there are obvious reasons - it provides brain function and focus, it’s been known to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, and aid in repairing nerve damage.
Cordyceps
Cordyceps are great for boosting physical performance. While cordyceps have many incredible benefits, it’ll truly help with physical performance and keep you moving and grooving all day. Especially with our use of cacao and other incredible ingredients, you’ll be feeling great daily.

Many Americans are stressed. It’s apparent on a daily basis. Luckily there are things that can remedy this. One of those methods involves Reishi. Reishi is known to assist with reducing stress and improving sleep.
Turmeric
When Googled, there are dozens of benefits to turmeric, which is probably why it's been used for centuries. Turmeric will help with heart health, prevent against cancer, and it’s also an anti-inflammatory.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants. Not only is it incredibly beneficial for the body, but it’s also incredibly beneficial to the flavor profile of Shroof.
Dandelion Root
Dandelion root is known for many benefits, but the one we think is important for Shroof is it’s ability to help with digestion and stomach issues. We mean this in the good way - not the coffee way… Our dandelion root will help with your stomach, rather than hurt it like coffee.
Himalayan Pink Salt
Salt helps you stay hydrated. Consuming water is huge, and so are the benefits of consuming salt. It helps keep your electrolytes balanced and improves sleep.
What does Shroof taste like?
As seen on our product page, “Delicious, flavorful, rich, sunshine in a mug. - Just a few descriptors we've heard about Shroof coffee alternative.” Don’t expect Shroof to taste like coffee, it won’t. It’s in a category of its own. It’s made with 10 organic ingredients, rather than being bean water like coffee (even though coffee beans are actually seeds).
As for the flavor profile? It’s a beautiful chocolatey flavor with hints of delicious earth (4 mushrooms, 3 roots), cinnamon, and wrapped in a rich bold flavor. While not the same taste as coffee, Shroof can be used in dozens of different ways, and we’ll be providing more recipes over the coming months. Shroof can also be used in cooking! Does anyone want some Shrooferdoodle cookies? Stay tuned!
